The Magic City Brigade have been a staple of soccer in Birmingham since 2014. The founder, Forrest Collins, decided to create the Brigade before the Hammers ever kicked a soccer ball. The Brigade welcomed in the new club in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), then the Professional Development League (PDL) which is now known as USL League Two.

Below is a statement sent to me by the Brigade Board that has some nice little surprises about the upcoming season, so I highly recommend giving it a read!

The Magic City Brigade is preparing for a season that feels different – there’s an electricity in the air around it. There have been several changes: a new stadium to fill, new players to cheer on, and new opportunities to get the people of Birmingham on their feet and excited about Legion FC. The Brigade has also experienced a wave of change with new leadership that is rallying the troops and gaining back the momentum stolen from us by the pandemic. 

We are the first and by far the largest supporters’ group for Legion FC. We welcome all who want to be more than just a sideline fan. We chant, we sing, wave flags, and lose our minds at a goal! But most of all, we have fun! We pride ourselves on being a proverbial big tent for people of any and all backgrounds from every corner of the city and metro area. Now more than ever, we are engaging more with our community and finding more dedicated ways to give back to Birmingham. 

Join us at home games when we tailgate in front of the south gate of Protective Stadium! When the boys are away, head to Ghost Train Brewing’s brand new taproom on 1st Avenue South to join us for our official watch parties. Outside of games, we have various different social events to help everyone get to know each other – we are friends after all!
